Me a Girl Gamer?

Since this is a geek blog I suppose I should write something geeky.

I'm a standard issue geek wife.

Before our little v. 2.0 came along I used to game quite a bit with the old club_sammich. We've had a home network for as long as I can remember. We don't share machines. That would not work.

We would set up multiplayer games of Halflife, D2 or Age of Empires. I never really got into playing FPS pc games by myself. I never got very far anyway. For me the fun was in playing with sammich.

We would play counterstrike mods. He would frag me till I got sick of being fragged. We would do weapons testing. I like snarks. We would check out mods of all kinds together. I liked the one's with the Xena pictures. There was a cool house mod that I liked.

I enjoyed playing D2 for a while, both cracked and legit characters. All of my characters are long gone. I've played through all of D2, including the expansion pack, on normal, with help in multiplayer games of course. I only got about halfway through on hell. My character could not take the heat. Playing a cracked character on nightmare was still hard and felt too much like cheating.

I really like the shopping aspect of D2. You get to sell stuff and get stuff repaired. Don't forget the gems! Pretty! Shiny! Sparkly! Once you get the cube it would be time for some cube gem action! I would fill my hidey-hole with tons of gems for the cube.

Did you ever notice that Deckard Cain sounds like Sean Connery. We would say inappropriate comments in the Cain/Connery voice. "Come sit on my lap, well'll discuss the first thing that comes up."

Charsy the Rouge Encampment Smith is HOT. There must be some fan fic slash out htere detailing her and the expansion pack Barbarian Smith sharing a hotel room at the annual Blacksmith Convention. That would smoke.

I really don't game that much anymore. My machine is slow, a 333 with an ok amount of RAM. But it's bogged down with quicken, fertility software, digital photo stuff, macromedia, gimp, firefox, etc. All that everday stuff leaves little resources for gaming.

That and sammich is into Never Winter Nights. I don't like the perspective or game play. Just don't like it. Not into it. Not interested.

I spend mroe time now reading, playing with v 2.0, knitting, blogging and running the house.

I am grateful that sammich does not do the whole online gaming thing. I don't want to be an EverCrack widow.

From time to time I do feel bad that we don't multiplayer anymore. A good Age of Empires Wood Battle is fun. You basically see who can chop the most wood in a predetermied time or if you have the time, till the wood runs out on the map. I bite at battles in AOE. Sammich would come in with his war elephants and his trebuches and it would be all over. It got old loosing all the time, pretty much every time.

I guess I'm not born to frag.

I do however own and read a large collention of Star Wars novels. But that is another post for another time.
